“Wow – I read this book just thinking it would be a good book to pass the time and enjoyable enough. Boy did I not give it enough credit – it is GOOD! Every single thing about this book is refreshing and straightforward. No hiding, not communicating, just 2 people attracted to one another who find their perfect match.” – Emily, Goodreads *****

It’s not my agility that catches basketball player Tyron Channing’s attention. It can’t be when he found me grazed and hurt after an embarrassing slip. But my oh my, his breath-catching growls and him hauling me off my ass with a question that makes my head spin: Who did this to you? — make me dizzy with want.

Between his intensity and his sweetness, he turns me into a melted puddle of goo, which isn’t as gross as it sounds. And who knew I liked my men to wield facts like they’re as essential as oxygen, all while being so smart that sometimes his brain-to-mouth function has no filter?

There’s something else you need to know about Tyron. He’s all in and holds nothing back from our new friendship. Because that’s totally what this is, right? Carrying my bag to classes, handing me my favorite coffee when I least expect it, being my defender, and introducing me to his teammates… they’re all normal actions when people become study partners. I’ll keep telling myself that—anything more with Tyron seems impossible.

That doesn’t stop me from fantasizing or holding out hope that one day, Tyron will see me as more than the geeky math nerd who just happens to have caught his attention.

Swoon-worthy, low-angst contemporary MM romance

5 Stars
This is book 2 of the Fast Break series, and while the focus is still on the college basketball team, the plots don’t overlap. It works well as a standalone.
I’ve not been hooked by a book so quickly for a while. It brought a smile to my face from the word go; it’s a dual POV, and we get to know both MCs pretty quickly. Tyron is not a typical jock; he’s got major brains and is aiming for the FBI, but meanwhile, he’s juggling classes and the team. He’s never had time for a romantic interest, but when Logan catches his eye, he’s falling pretty fast. His character is really well written; the portrayal of demisexual/sapiosexual is very believable. I loved his confidence and that he’s completely blinkered to the fact that he thinks they’re dating and Logan’s not got a clue. So cute! Logan is blown away that Tyron wants to be his friend; he may have the hots for him, but he doesn’t believe for a minute that Tyron wants to date him.
This story might be sweet, funny, and light, but there’s a real emotional core. These two really get each other; they care deeply. They’ve got chemistry in spades, but it develops slowly as they connect; it’s really beautiful. While Tyron may appear dominant, Logan gives love and support just as much. There are issues around Logan’s father and Tyron pushing himself so hard; the plot moves along nicely as their relationship grows.
I loved these guys; it’s an absolute must-read if you’re looking for a sweet, fun read that’s got a real emotional core. This is a definite recommendation.
