Blurb:

The pretty boy. The loner. Old Hollywood. I had all kinds of names as the least known member of the most famous band in the world.

Behind all the hype and masks, I’m just a Pretty Wreck.

No one knows the disaster I am, my secrets hidden behind style and a smile.

I’ve been running for as long as I can remember, but I can’t get away from the gilded cage of fame. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to keep it together.

I’m forced to go back on tour to play the summer concert circuit, and so is the guy I’ve avoided for two years.

Ten years older than me, he’s the bassist for the hottest punk band. He beds a different girl every night, but while the rest of the world slept, he’d crawl into my bed.

He’s the only person who has ever felt safe, but he’s straight, so I ran from him, too.

Now I have to face him and it’s all unraveling. I’m afraid I’ll be the first to break, bringing our fame crashing down.

4.5 Stars!

Pretty Wreck is book 3 in the Pretty Broken series and damn, this was an intense read. Not only was Alister and Kingsley’s rocky story quite a rollercoaster but everything happening with Pretty Broken and Alexander was as well.

Alister had left Kingsley two years before without a word, blocking with and refusing to give him any explanations. Now, that Pretty Broken is forced to tour with Kingsley’s band it might be difficult to keep him at arm’s length.

This book was very emotional, Alister and King have to work through a lot of issues, and on top of it all, Alexander is there to throw a wrench in the band’s lives. I loved the guys from Pretty Broken working together against a common enemy, Alexander, and I can’t wait until he gets all that’s coming to him.

Regarding Alister and King, they were messy and complicated and it took a while for them to get things right. There was a lot of hurt to get past, but I loved their intimacy and the trust they placed in each other. Kingsley was just what Alister needed and I was glad he could be there for Alister when he needed him the most.

I loved that Iris could rely on Alister, or rather that they could rely on each other. It was a nice dynamic, different than what we had seen in other books, and perhaps just what Iris needed.

Overall, this has been my favorite book in the series so far, it was definitely darker and angstier and perhaps a bit more chaotic than the previous books, but I think it paints a fairly accurate portrait of what a rockstar’s life really is. Very recommendable!

4.5 Stars!

When I first started reading this book, I felt like I probably should have reread the earlier books, especially Pretty Obsessed. My memories of that book were not as strong as from Pretty Toxic for some reason and the story in Pretty Wreck starts right in with the chaos that is the band’s current life. It took me a few minutes to put everything together and be ready as the story moves into the dysfunction quickly. I would strongly recommend having read at least the first book, Pretty Obsessed, before reading this one. I do think that reading the second book, Pretty Toxic, would also help since you get a lot of the band’s dynamics in it.

The title is totally on spot for this story; the angst in this one is strong. I was glad to see Iris more and to see him spending time with Alister. I felt for Alister and the mess that is his current life. While I really didn’t like the ghosting he did of Kingsley, I could understand why he felt he needed to get away. I do wish he would have told Kingsley the truth instead of giving them both so many years of pain. I was glad that Kingsley found a way to talk to Alister. It took them a long time to sort things out, but I was glad that Alister kept Alexander out of things as much as possible. I loved that Kingsley worked around the challenges and that they manage to spend time together. I do wish that they had communicated a little more straightforwardly, but they worked it out finally. Part of me can’t believe that it took Kingsley so long to figure out his feelings considering everything, but I am glad that he did. When they are together and open with each other, their relationship is all-consuming and full of safety and infinite trust. I am so glad they managed to bridge the gap and find the love they both needed.

I was uncomfortable, almost disliking Alexander before this book, but couldn’t quite figure out why. After the first couple of chapters, I really disliked him and it only got worse. I really hope that the band figures out how to get away from him and his hold on their lives. I also seriously want to know what is going on with Cas, so it’s a good thing that his book is next, even though I really, really want Iris’s story.
