This was a really good start to this duet! Just be advised that Scoring with Him ends in a rather shocking cliffhanger, so if you don’t like those, I suggest waiting until August 6 to binge read on both books.

Grant and Declan were inevitable, their connection and chemistry jumping off the pages from the start. Grant was my favorite, Declan ran hot and cold throughout the book and that got annoying at times. Grant wore his heart on his sleeve and I just wanted to give him a huge hug and make it all work for him. Declan’s life wasn’t the best growing up, but neither was Grant’s, so it wasn’t really the best excuse. I get that Declan wanted them both to succeed in their respective baseball careers, but he didn’t go about it the right way.

I loved the fact that Lauren Blakely created a world where being an LGBTQ athlete wasn’t really a problem and that the angst was more about them being teammates and that becoming more could potentially damage their focus.

Other than me being annoyed at Declan and the cliffhanger, the book was pretty good. There’s friendship, attraction, training, baseball, and two great MCs that I really hope will get their HEA.

While I had an ARC, I also got the audiobook and truly Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan definitely made the experience even better for me. They did a fantastic job with Declan and Grant and I’m already looking forward to listening to them again narrating Winning with Him!
