New Release Review ~ Runaway by Casey Cox

Ever woken up and realized your life is one big cliché?

Waking up married in Vegas? Been there, done that… Twice.
Base-jumping off Mount Fuji in Japan? That’s, like, a chill weekend.
Partying in France with supermodels? Meh, très overrated.

Despite being born into the most powerful family in the highly prestigious cowbell industry (yeah, you read that right)—I’m feeling more than just a little lost. So, partying and living it up has become my default avoidance coping mechanism.

Until I spot him one night on vacation staring out into the dark ocean, looking all sorts of Cali-cute.

When he speaks, he catches my interest.

When he serves me back my own sassiness with an added helping of nerdy smarts, he burrows into my brain.

And when he peers up at me through sun-kissed lashes with those glittery eyes and smiles?
Damn, he captures my heart like no one ever has.

But how do you keep the one you want to be with forever from slipping through your fingers?

RUNAWAY is a woke-up-married, fake relationship (after insta-love) rom-com style MM romance. It features a loveable bad boy getting up to no good (for all the right reasons) who meets a boy with a bucket list.

You can expect plenty of gasps, giggles, and OMG moments including Fermi pickup lines, terrible…y good karaoke, cowbells, mystery midnight walks, a life-changing ATM glitch, one outrageous grandmother who intends to take full advantage of an all-male clothing optional resort, small townspeople that will melt your heart with their kindness, and a happily ever after that will make you feel like you’ve just returned from the best vacation ever.
(Piña coladas and other creatively named cocktails not included.)

RUNAWAY is part of the super sweet, light and fluffy ESCAPE series. There are no cliffhangers (ew) and no cheating, either (double ew).

You can read the books in whatever order your heart desires!

RELEASE DATES FOR THE ESCAPE SERIES ARE:

4.5 Stars
This is the second in the Escape Series; they are connected because the characters meet at the same resort. The owners of the resort appear in both, but play a bigger role in this one. They are also connected because they are, so far, all sweet, easy, and fun. There is more angst in this story but it’s handled in a light way.
Conrad is escaping his life. He’s been travelling for 6 months—working his way through his bucket list, and making the most of now, because a future is not what he thinks he has. Jed has been avoiding life. Not wanting to go into the family business, for reasons that become clearer through the story, he’s been out getting into trouble and having fun. They meet at Elysian, and the attraction is immediate. Spending time together—due to a fake husband scenario—leads to feelings that neither really expected.
I liked both the main characters—Jed particularly. Funny, loud, larger than life—he’s one of those guys that might seem a bit of a fool but actually has a heart of gold. He goes after what he wants; the butterflies in his stomachs, and the warm, happy feelings he’s getting with Conrad, show it’s not so fake for him. We know he’s a good guy, as there are clues (no plot spoilers here). Together, they are hot and sexy.
The thing about this series is you always know it’s going to all be okay.  Without giving the plot away, Conrad’s facing an uncertain future. This isn’t the kind of story where there’s going to heartache and tears. We know there’s going to be a solution, and that’s okay because sometimes that’s what you want. You want fun; you want laughter; you want the cute guys finding each other—and getting into a bit of a mess—as they try not to admit to their family they are making it up as they go along. Secrets come out along the way to their HEA. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s just what the doctor ordered. Jed grows up and steps up. Conrad gets a future and we are left feeling warm and happy at the end. There’s no bad guys, just a great cast of likable supporting characters that help keep the plot moving along.
Looking for some light, funny, a little silly at times, but also sweet and sexy story? This is the series for you.
